Networking at Hamburg’s logistics and innovation hub

On Friday 30 September, homePORT Hamburg hosted its “Homecoming” event to celebrate the innovation centre’s first anniversary. Exhibitors from the Hamburg region were there in force to display current technologies and projects in the areas of UAM, mobile sensor technology, AR/VR, digital twin and 3D printing. Medifly, as one of the region’s foremost UAM projects was there, too. The Homecoming was opened by Dr Phanthian Zuesongdham, Head of Division Port Process Solution, Friedrich Stuhrmann CCO of Hamburg Port Authority and State Councillor Andreas Rieckhof of the Hamburg Ministry of Economic Affairs and Innovation.

The Medifly stand was the contact point for interested trade visitors who wanted to find out more about our project. A highlight: Airial Robitics brought a Gyrotrak GT-20 as a static display, giving visitors a first hand view of the Medifly drone. Gernot Steenblock, Sales Manager at Airial, was available to answer detailed questions by the many industry professionals who visited the Medifly stand. Among others, we were pleased to welcome Jan Schönberg, editor-in-chief of DRONES and representatives of the Hamburg police helicopter squadron, who discussed future developments in drone technologies for emergency service use.

In addition, our project manager Sabrina John took part in an expert panel on the topic of “Robotics: Land, Water, Air”. The participants included Helge Hackbart from Lufthansa Industry Solutions and Christian Bahr from the Hamburg Port Authority. The panel discussed exciting approaches to UAM solutions and how they can be implemented in the urban environment and in the face of complex regulation. After the presentations, it was time for networking in the sunny autumn weather. The Medifly team found the discussions with other projects and partners in the Hamburg drone community and logistics industry particularly enriching. Many thanks to the entire homePORT team for the successful event!
